Yuzu Dining Bar is not a traditional Japanese restaurant where every dish appears on the table in a fixed order. Here, it is about discovering, sharing, and continuing to taste. In this atmospheric establishment on Kerkstraat, modern Japanese dishes, distinctive cocktails, and a lively late-night atmosphere come together.
Yakitori from head to tail
Yakitori forms the heart of the menu. In this Japanese cooking technique, various parts of the chicken are grilled on skewers. Yuzu goes much further than just chicken breast or thigh: the wings, neck, skin, liver, heart, and other lesser-known parts also find a place on the menu. Each part has its own texture and flavor and is prepared with care over the grill.
In addition to yakitori, there are vegetarian vegetable skewers and various signature dishes to share. Think grilled avocado, corn tempura with matcha salt, crispy rice chips with smoked miso butter, and a Japanese katsu sando. Those who want to be completely surprised can opt for omakase and leave the composition of the meal to the chefs.
Cocktails that pair with the dishes
The drinks menu is an important part of the Yuzu experience. You will find various types of sake, Japanese whisky, wine, and cocktails with Asian ingredients. The in-house creations are tailored to the flavors from the kitchen. As a result, Yuzu is just as suitable for an elaborate dinner as it is for light dishes and a cocktail later in the evening.
The dishes are served as soon as they are ready and are meant to be tasted together. There is no classic division between starters and main courses: order various skewers and signature dishes, place everything on the table, and share with your company.
Dining with an energetic late-night atmosphere
Yuzu is tucked away behind Leidseplein and feels intimate, quirky, and a touch mysterious. As the evening progresses, the music gets louder and the dining bar gains more energy. This makes Yuzu a good choice for those who like to combine a refined dinner with sake, cocktails, and a lively Amsterdam evening.
