Le French Café brings the atmosphere of a lively Parisian brasserie to Amsterdam-Oost. The branch on Javastraat was the first location of the concept and combines French classics with a distinctive interior, an energetic bar, and the relaxed atmosphere of the neighborhood. You can stop by for lunch, enjoy a full dinner, or end the evening with wine and cocktails.
French classics with a unique twist
The menu features dishes that immediately remind you of France. Start, for example, with oysters, duck rillettes, charcuterie, prawns, or gratinated snails with herb butter. Classics such as steak tartare, poussin, and steak frites also fit the character of the brasserie perfectly.
Many dishes are suitable for sharing. You can fill the table with various small plates, bread and butter, seafood, and a larger meat or fish dish. To finish, of course, French desserts are a must, such as crème brûlée or another sweet classic from the changing menu.
Wine, aperitif and a view of the kitchen
The wine list features a wide selection of French wines, including bottles from well-known regions and surprising choices from smaller producers. As a result, a suitable wine can always be found for an elaborate meal, an aperitif with friends, or a spontaneous drink at the bar. In addition to wine, Le French Café serves various cocktails and other drinks.
A special spot in the restaurant is the Chef’s Bar. From there, you look out onto the area where the seafood, among other things, is prepared. The warm interior, with bistro sofas, mirrors, wooden tables, and French details, gives the place a classic feel, but with a playful Amsterdam energy.
A French meeting place on Javastraat
During the day, Le French Café is a relaxed spot for lunch and a good glass of wine. Towards evening, the lighting softens and the place fills with groups of friends, locals, and couples. When the weather is nice, you can take a seat on the terrace on Javastraat and watch daily life in Amsterdam-Oost pass by.
