This cycling route helps you recognise those layers. You'll discover exactly where you stop along the way.
The circuit is just over 19 kilometres and takes you from Wassenaar to Katwijk aan Zee and back again. At ten places you get off and read the story of exactly that place on your phone, each time with a short viewing task. You don't need to be a history buff or a birdwatcher: getting off now and then and taking a good look is enough.
You cycle at your own pace, without a guide and without a group. You buy the route, start when you're in Wassenaar and then have 48 hours. As soon as you start, you'll receive your digital goodie bag by email, with tips for along the way and a button to pick up the route again at any time.
The route starts and finishes at the cycle paths on the Wassenaarseslag, close to Hotel Duinoord. Allow 2½ to 3½ hours, including reading and your own breaks. For the basic route you don't need to go inside anywhere or pay for entry; where you stop for a drink is up to you. Read the texts when you've stopped and give other cyclists room.

Can I cancel after buying?
Yes, as long as you have not started the route: within 14 days of your order you can cancel without giving a reason. As soon as you press start, delivery begins and that right lapses.
How can I pay?

What happens after my payment?
After paying you return to your order page and receive two emails: an order confirmation and, for each route, its own activation link. That link opens your activation page. Your access does not start by opening that page: only when you press "Start my route — 48 hours" yourself do your 48 hours begin.

Wassenaar lies between the dunes and the coast, and you notice it as soon as you head outdoors. The Wassenaarseslag takes you straight to the sea. Behind the edge of the dunes, woodland, wet dune valleys and nature that was deliberately given new room alternate. Towards Katwijk lie the Panbos and the dunes of Berkheide.
In the village itself, the scale becomes smaller. Around the Dorpskerk, whose history goes back to the twelfth century, and at the Windlust corn mill, you see that Wassenaar is also a village on a human scale.
